Vintage SAL Swarovski Necklace c.1980
A stunning 1980s Vintage SAL Swarovski necklace. This bold and chunky gold vintage necklace features a tight ‘snake-like’ articulated chain. The focal point of this necklace is a black enamel and clear rhinestone feature. This beautiful example fastens with a fold over clasp at the back of the neck.
This necklace is in excellent (deadstock) condition.
Due to the short use of the “SAL Swarovski” trademark – just 11 years, these pieces are quite rare and collectable! This is without a doubt one of the most striking examples of 1980s Swarovski costume jewellery!
Length (end-to-end) – 41 cm
Focal point (enamel detail) dimensions: – 5cm x 2.6cm
About SAL Swarovski
SAL is short for Swarovski America Ltd and was the first name under which the famed Austrian crystal company began manufacturing their own jewellery.
The “S.A.L” mark was used from 1977 to 1988, but after proving to be confusing to consumers it was replaced with the trademark swan hallmark that continues to represent Swarovski jewellery today.
Swarovski is a maker of fine rhinestones and Austrian crystals, and is still in business to this day. You can have a look at modern Swarovski jewellery here.
