A McCall’s 1970s front yoked dress pattern, style number 2309.

The back of the pattern says: “Front yoked dress with short or three-quarter length set-in sleeves. Dress, fitted by French darts in front and vertical back darts, has center back zipper and stitch trim. Neck, squared in front, is faced and interfaced. Short sleeved dress has interfaced, self fabric belt and contrast scarf. Other dresses have purchased belt or contrast scarf. Scarf, wrapped around neck, is drawn thru opening in yoke seam.”

McCall’s started designing and printing patterns in 1870. James McCall, the founder, started up his own magazine company in order to advertise his patterns, and thus a renowned fashion magazine began. The magazine was initially named The Queen: Illustrating McCall’s Bazaar Glove-Fitting Patterns, and the magazine was still in publication – under Rosie O’Donnell, and named Rosie – until the company folded in 2003.
